Speake-Marin Renaissance Tourbillon Minute Repeater [Release]

Renaissance incorporates an accumulation of knowledge and experience, and takes the classical Speake-Marin elements to another level: another level of elegance, with its slim design; another level of mechanical complexity, with its tourbillon and minute-repeater; and another level of aesthetic sophistication, with its open-dial architecture featuring harmonious bridge design and superlative finishing.

What is more, the back of each Renaissance movement is decorated with a different intricate hand-engraved design making each one a unique piece.

With this Renaissance timepiece, Peter Speake-Marin has embarked on his own intellectual journey of rediscovery to harness the classical elements of Speake-Marin and reinterpret them to extraordinary effect.

In Renaissance, all of the quintessential Speake-Marin qualities are there to behold, qualities that go right back to the Foundation Watch, the very first timepiece to bear the Speake-Marin name.

Renaissance features the iconic Piccadilly case; characteristic pleated crown; signature Foundation hands; intricate hand-engraving; and, as with the Foundation Watch and many subsequent models, the signature Speake-Marin topping-tool motif, here in the form of the tourbillon cage.

In addition to retracing all that he has worked on and developed since the inception of the eponymous Speake-Marin brand over a decade ago, Peter Speake-Marin has also drawn on his formative years working in antique timepiece restoration in Piccadilly, London where he worked extensively on minute-repeaters.

F.P.Journe Chronomètre Bleu

Introduced as a new approach of high precision for a younger generation of collectors, the CHRONOMETRE BLEU launched in December 2009 revealed itself as an ultimate Trend Setter in inspiring numerous watch brands.

The magnificent blue chrome dial of the F.P.Journe Chronomètre Bleu was the first to have opened the door to a new variation of colour in the high range of premium dials.

F.P.Journe reveals to be more than a source of inspiration in the high horology world for its constant search for precision and innovative calibres; it’s also the innate aesthetical sense of the brand, combining harmony, simplicity and elegance that has set a trend in the design of watch making.

The bluish anthracite colour of the case in Tantalum, rare and precious metal, has also contributed to the success of this timekeeper in initiating the trend “Blue”.

Breitling for Bentley Supersports QP Light Body

Breitling for Bentley’s new super-sporty titanium model was revealed at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show to celebrate the ice speed record set two weeks ago by Finland’s four-time world rally champion Juha Kankkunen in a Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible.

Driving the all-wheel drive, biofuel-powered 6L, 12-cylinder Continental Supersports convertible on the perilous frozen Baltic Sea, off the coast of Finland, Kankkunen achieved a speed of 205.48 mph (330.695 km/h) eclipsing his own ice speed record of 199.83 mph (321.6 km/h) set in 2007 in the Continental GT.

Both the new Supersports ‘Ice Speed Record’ convertible and Juha’s record-breaking Supersports will be on display on the Bentley stand at the Geneva Show from today (March 1). The new model will be limited to just 100 cars worldwide.

Linde Werdelin

Over the past few years up to the big bad economic crisis (although truth be told, this was boom-time for savvy investors who were looking out for deeply discounted bargains!), there has been a furious and palpable rush by many 'manufactures' to erm, 'manufacture' stories to help sell their watches.

Of course, we wouldn't go so far as to accuse these good companies of 'making things up'; by stories, we mean little historical nuggets that may have been augmented (some might even say 'exaggerated') to some nth degree of whichever marketing visionary's romantic ideal.

moVas : 'Diver' collection

(Diver Professional pictured)

We don't blame you for going, "Mo-what?"...

Short for 'Movements of Asia' (yes, 'moVas' is mixed in there somewhere), moVas is a home-grown brand that seeks to showcase Asian movements in original designs conceived by trained-architect-turned-artist, Sean Wai.

Marin 2 (Mk1) "Thalassa" : Peter Speake-Marin

It is extremely rare for every single component of a watch’s case, its dial and its movement to be designed by just one man. When that man has the talent of master watchmaker Peter Speake-Marin, the result is a timepiece of transcendental harmony of form and function, aesthetics and technique.

The result is the Thalassa.

F.P.Journe Chronomètre à Resonance

F.P.Journe offers a new face to the renowned Chronomètre a Résonance, acclaimed by collectors and professionals of the brand worldwide.

In an ultimate quest for precision, the dial at 9h now offers a time indication of 24 hours, defining precisely the hours of day and those of night. The dial at 3h in silver guilloche indicates the local time but can also be used for the same time zone.
